C. Howard Crane (Aug. 13, 1885 - Aug. 14, 1952)

Crane was Detroit’s greatest theater architect and his masterpieces were the city’s jaw-dropping movie palaces, such as the Fox and United Artists theaters. But his work wasn’t limited to theaters, as he also did the since demolished Lafayette Building and Olympia Stadium, the former home of the Detroit -ed Wings. He also designed movie palaces in Los Angeles, Chicago and other major U.S. cities.
