Historic Detroit

Every building in Detroit has a story — we're here to share it

St. Augustine & St. Monica Catholic Church

The Archdiocese of Detroit shuttered Catholic churches left and right as the city's population shrunk and the number of churchgoers shrunk with it. In 1989, the St. Catherine/St. Edward and St. Bernard parishes were merged to form St. Augustine & St. Monica.

The church, designed by Donaldson & Meier and built in 1919, features stained glass by Willet Studios of Philadelphia.
