YMCA (Fisher Branch)

Another beautiful Albert Kahn-designed structure sitting abandoned on West Grand Boulevard, less than two blocks from the Lee Plaza Hotel, another abandoned Detroit landmark.

Ground was broken on May 28, 1928. The cornerstone was laid by Lawrence P. Fisher and Edward F. Fisher on Sep 18, 1928 and the building opened to the public on April 11, 1929.

The total cost of the structure was $577,659 with the entire amount being a gift of the Fisher brothers.

More on this building coming soon.
