Harry Sexton Angell was born Feb. 14, 1887, in Howell, Mich., to Edwin G. and Carrie A. Sexton Angell.
He was married in April 1912 to Bessie E. Gibbings in Detroit. The couple lived at 221 E. Philadelphia St., in Detroit for a while before moving to suburban Berkley.
Angell designed a number of homes, commercial buildings and mid-rise buildings in Detroit. His most notable creations included the since-demolished Newcomb-Endicott Department Store and U.S. Mortgage Bond Building at 607 Shelby St.
He died at age 62 on Oct. 15, 1949, in Berkley, Mich., and was buried in his native Howell at Lake View Cemetery.
