Guardian Building detail, highlighting the 'Michigan Mural' at the southern end of the Banking Hall. The Michigan mural features radiating rays that extend toward smaller panels around its perimeter, each illustrating key industries and businesses located throughout the state. At the top is a depiction of Finance, symbolically placed to represent its importance to all of Michigan. Moving clockwise, we see Fishing, located in the heart of the Great Lakes; then Commerce, where ships transport Michigan goods across the Great Lakes and rivers to Chicago and the Eastern U.S.; followed by Manufacture just above the emblem for the City of Detroit. Manufacture is a representation of Detroit’s role as Michigan’s manufacturing hub. At the bottom of the mural is a depiction of the Seal of Michigan, then Agriculture in southwest Michigan, Lumbering, and Mining, which is actually located in the western corner of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan though that Upper Peninsula is not shown in the mural - Photo from Sep. 24, 2022
